ALAN
DONAHUE
Theatre
And a bit of Opera
I am blessed to be able to create a career of design for live performance. And I have worked in various markets and performance areas. Theatre was where I first found my vision and voice as a designer and remains my favorite work. The images here represent work produced for non-commercial theatre and opera companies over the course of my professional life.
I consider my work to be stylistically diverse. It tends to be sculptural with painterly flourishes. It is theatrical and structured to define space, shape movement, and create focus to the dramatic action.
A number of projects you will see are from productions at Lifeline Theatre, Chicago, IL. It has been my artistic home since 1990 and I have been a member of its artistic collective since 2001.
